After the December storms and all the recent rain, Majura is a bit of a mess. There’s also a few other things going on.The short version is there’s hero dirt to be found at the south end descents but everything else should be avoided. Read on for the full details.
Conditions
It’s really wet and muddy on all but the higher trails. Definitely avoid the XC trails and even winery hill needs more time to dry out.The Flash and pump track at the beginner area, Wombat, Radicle, Smitten Kitten and north ends of Cannery Row and Dew Drop Inn are all CLOSED because of mud and/or dangerous trees.
There are trees down on Space Elevator, Mr Squiggle and blocking the main fire road (and probably other places as well).
High Ropes Course
Construction has started on the Treetops Adventure high ropes course and will last for the next 5 to 6 weeks. Wombat will be closed during this period but we will be upgrading this popular beginner trail before it re-opens. Please stay out of the work area and don’t pass under any bunting. They will be working at weekends as well.
Forestry Work
The whole of Majura Pines will be closed on Tuesday 23rd and Wednesday 24th January whilst ACT Parks and Conservation Service remove many dangerous storm damaged trees. Once this work is done our volunteers can start getting the closed trails re-opened and the forest will be safer for all. As before – please obey all closures for your own safety.
Planet Claire
Finally some good news. The legends from Iconic Trails are donating a day of machine time to fix up some of the berms on Planet Claire. The trail will be closed all day Thursday 25th January whilst this work is done.
Keep your eyes open for a trail day in the near future when we’ll be continuing the tidy up.
