Sunday’s Rake n Ride on the Three Bears jumps trails was one for the next generation of trail builders. Hamish from Iconic trails had done a superb job getting the shapes of the jumps “just right” but there was still a long list of jobs to do including repacking the entry berms, raking and compacting the sides of the jumps, cleaning drainage, bulking out the exit berm on Baby Bear and realigning the lumpy little link trail back to Mr Squiggle.
The crew of all ages took to these jobs with gusto with the youngsters leading the way with endless energy on the tools and the test laps. A real highlight of all the years we’ve been working at Majura was the party train down Baby Bear.
Take time to familiarise yourself with the jumps before you next ride them; there have been significant changes. The three tables on Baby Bear are bigger than they were whilst still remaining approachable and 100% rollable. The longer jumps better match the speed of the trail and provide progression to Mama Bear that they didn’t before. The jumps on Mama Bear are roughly the same size as they were – we’ve just filled them in and bulked them out. The trail is less busy than it was making it more achievable for for those graduating from Baby.
Our thanks to those who lent a hand yesterday, Craig Marting for the amazing photos and to Capital Brewing Co. and Lark Hill Winery for the refreshments. It’s been a busy couple of weeks at Majura and we couldn’t have done any of this without everyone’s support.
