The Majura Pines trails held up reasonably well to all the rain over the last couple of weeks. Thank you to everyone who has volunteered at a maintenance day – this work really helps – and to the riders for giving the trails a rest whilst they were sodden. Whilst the trails are now pretty dry, the creeks are still flowing and there is some damage we need to fix when they dry out.
The legend that is Garreth from Iconic Trails has been back to Papa Bear and bulked out one more giant table top and a catch berm to finish. However these jumps are too wet ride and did suffer damage during the heavy rain. A reminder NOT TO RIDE CLOSED TRAILS. You will cause damage that volunteers will have to fix.
We have recently updated a few of the trail signs. Our thanks to Alan Vogt form Frameskin and Dirtsurfer who again donated all the design work for free. The new signs include Short Memory, our recently completed gravity descent. This trail has also been added to our PDF print map and Trailforks.
We are in the gradual process of giving the beginner area a smarten up. Some of things that you will see popping up over the coming months are fixed drainage and bridges, north shore features, a public work stand, improved signage and hopefully some adaptive mountain bike friendly upgrades. The Majurassic Park guys also have lots planned for the dirt jumps.
In a couple of weeks we will, weather permitting, be organising a spring buff up for Planet Claire. We did such a good job on the lower section that the upper berms now need some love. Watch this space for details.
Another date for your diary is Wednesday 12th October when there will be a midweek trail day aimed at those lucky mtbikers who get community volunteer days from their employers. More information soon.
And lastly, don’t for get to vote for us in the MTB Direct Dollars for Dirt $100k grants giveaway. You will also be in with the chance to win a $100 voucher. Vote here. Thank you.
