Predictably enough when we put the call out that we’re building a new jump trail every little pinner in north Canberra dragged their parents down to the pines to help out. Many hands, however small, make light work and soon grass, roots, tussocks, unwanted rocks, pine needles, tree stumps and branches were cleared out the way. It was tough going but end result is a corridor free or all organic matter for Iconic trails to turn in to flowing table tops.
Additionally a return climbing link trail was added, an awesome rock drop uncovered, a creek crossing rock armoured – with frikkin boulders – and a necessary short realignment of Mr Squiggle. This trail now has a short diversion up to the fireroad near to the end of the 3 Bears to avoid crossing the new jump trail. There is also an alternate start to Mr Squiggle opposite the exit of Bombora which will be useful anyone parking at the winery gate. These changes have been added to TrailForks and also the latest Majura Pines trail map.
Massive thanks to everyone who came along to help (and their parents), Tony and Maitland Street Roasters for the coffee, Three Mills Bakery for the pastries (none left this week!), Capital Brewing Co. for the beer and Craig Martin for the photos.
Before you all ask – Iconic trails will on-site in July so it shouldn’t be too long till we’re all riding this exciting new addition to Majura.
