Hints For Riding Majura In The Wet

Avoid after heavy rain

The majura pines do not drain well and have a huge catchment (mt majura). Riding after heavy rainfall will damage the trails; creating problems our volunteers will have to fix.

Choose Your Trails

Stay high to stay dry. We recommend avoiding the lower lying xc trails and those trails that cross gullies. Barry and planet claire hold up well, as do the rockier descents like touching cloth and space elevator. Check our website, social media  or TrailForks for the latest trail conditions.

Ride Through Puddles

Riding around puddles widens trails and worsens the problem as the ground off the riding line is softer to start with. We recommend riding slowly through puddles. If the trail is muddy you shouldn’t be on it.

Drain The Rain

Even better still – take 2 minutes to drain the puddle. The constantly falling pine needles at majura block trail drainage. They can easily be scraped aside with a stick, your heel or even your front wheel.

Watch Out For Fallen Trees

When the ground is wet the tree roots are less stable and more prone to being blown over. Ride as if there could be a fallen tree around every corner. If you do come across a blocked trail email: majurapinestrails@gmail.com

Look After Your Ride

Wash your bike down after your ride (not with a pressure washer) and clean and lube your chain. Consider getting a front mudguard (Dirtsurfer do some great ones) to keep the crud out our eyes and fork seals.
