The intention last night was to do a bit of maintenance on the Sicnic Bench, maybe fill a few holes on berms and then fire up the BBQ and pat ourselves on the back for another busy year. However when people kept turning up not only did we have to send out for more sausages but also find some jobs for them all. Luckily we had been planning a rebuild of the top section of Pinot anyway.
A bit of shape and interest has been added to the straight section of the trail before the first proper berm which will be more fun to ride and also manage speed going in to this corner. The corner itself is now longer, steeper and a lot smoother – all those braking bumps are gone – so it will handle a bit more pace anyway.
We then continued approximately a third of the way down the hill clearing drains, patching berms and putting some lips back on kickers.
The Sicnic Bench itself has had the bottom end lifted back up. It is now a bit more of a drop than a huck. The up ramp is longer and smoother and the landing has been back filled with dirt. Oh and the bench itself gained a bit of structural reinforcement.
Take it easy on both the bench and Pinot Grinio until you are familiar with the changes and to give the work a chance to bed in.
Thank you to our sponsors Capital Brewing Co. and Lark Hill Winery who donated the liquid refreshments. And, of course, a huge thanks to everyone who came along to help last night and who has volunteered with us in 2023. See you all next year; we have lots planned…
