Corporate Day Write Up

The 4th annual Corporate Trail Day was again a great success. We always seem to schedule this for the first warm day of the summer (next year we will really try and do it in September) but that didn’t stop 22 keyboard warriors flexing their muscles and getting on the tools for the day.

We started on Beyond the Black Stump – first cut in 2 years ago by a similar crew. Drains were cleared, vegetation cut back, berms bulked out and the trail generally buffed up. The icing on the cake was extending the rock kicker near the bottom in to a 100% rock tabletop. Next time you ride at Majura check out this hidden gem. In particular it makes a great continuation on from Point Brake.

At the same time a small crew built a really solid bridge at the lowest (and often wettest) corner of the forest at the bottom of Shark Island.
After Three Mills Bakery pastries were washed down with Maitland Street Roasters coffee we did a quick lap of Love Shack, Pooklestein and Shark Island mainly cleaning drains; the dull, but important, work that is best done when everyone is being paid to be there.

After lunch we retreated to the shade of the bigger pines and tackled AJs Leap. This trail used to be the easy climb at the south end, but those days have long gone. We finally got around to cutting the fallen tree that pinched the first corner and then went on to totally rework the first right hander and following lumpy uphill rock garden that had become a real chore. We’re really pleased with the result and this trail is gradually getting back to where it should be.

Many thanks for everyone who came along today. We’ll see you all next year! For everyone else, we are looking to kick off our summer evening builds in November. Watch this space.
