Corporate Day A Huge Success

The Corporate Build Day was again a huge success. Despite being a touch warm at times, 35 willing volunteers put in a huge shift. Now that the trees in the harvested areas are finally re-growing we decided it was time to bring back an old trail – but with a new twist. Beyond Black Stump now actually starts from the black stump (opposite the exit to Point Brake) and winds it’s way down the gully before popping out near the end of Planet Claire. It was tough going through grass tussocks and rocks were shifted and berms built. We had just about enough strength in our arms to build a fun rock kicker near the end.

The real heroes of the day were the smaller group who headed down to the bottom of Shark Island and fixed up the rutted mess that trail has become. Lots of trail was re-aligned and drains cut in some very hard ground.

A huge thank you to everyone that came along and also to Marty and Lauren from ACT Parks and Conservation Service ParkCare for their assistance. We were well fed and watered by our amazing Trail Day sponsors: Maitland Street Roasters for the morning tea and coffee that they served, Three Mills Bakery provided lunch and Capital Brewing Co. and Lark Hill Winery ensured we a well earned drink afterwards.
