31st Oct – Corporate Volunteer Day

Many companies offer 1 or more paid volunteer days per year to support local community activities. On Thursday 31st October Majura Pines Trail Alliance will be running a special midweek trail build aimed at such employees. If your company doesn’t support a scheme like this, or if you aren’t sure if they do, speak to your boss or HR department and ask why not. Of course, if you are available that day for a different reason you are also more than welcome to join us.

About Majura Pines Trail Alliance

Majura Pines Trail Alliance is a registered ParkCare volunteer group with the ACT Parks and Conservation Services. All of our activities comply with the ACT Parks and Conservation Service Volunteer Policy and Code of Conduct. This policy includes insurance for personal accident and public liability through the ACT Insurance Authority (ACTIA) for registered volunteers. Risk Assessments are undertaken before activities and a senior first aider and standard first aid kit are always present.

Planned Work

We will be working on some of the XC trails in this area. These trails were harvested 6 years ago and are now seeing some great re-growth of pine trees so this is a great time to get in and make them as awesome as we can before summer.

As well as standard maintenance we will be adding as many fun features as possible including challenging A, B and C line options on the, steep rocky bank on Mata Hari. A really important trail that we will be working on is Mr Squiggle. This climb that is ridden by every accessing winery hill and the popular 3 Bears jumps is in desperate need of bringing back to its trail grade, whilst still retaining some optional challenges for those that like that sort of thing.
