Majura Pines Trail Alliance is organised by a Steering Committee. The following is a list of the main roles that the committee undertake. In many cases, a person performs more than one of these roles.
Convener
Role includes:
- The primary contact point for external stakeholders, the main one being our land manager, ACT Parks and Conservation Services (PCS). Other stakeholders include other user groups, event organisers (club and commercial) and local media
- Attending approximately 4 meetings per year with PCS that are likely to be in office hours and could be on site
- Communicating stakeholder feedback to the steering committee
Skills required:
- A good communicator with a very professional manner
- A long term strategic view towards Majura Pines and mountain biking in the region
Treasurer
We are not incorporated so are not required to submit annual accounts
Role includes:
- Managing our bank account, debit cards and Paypal account
Skills required:
- Banking and Paypal are mainly online. A good awareness of the risks of internet security would be useful – we have been burnt
- Should we decide to become incorporated (not hugely likely anytime soon) an accounting background
Trail Day Organiser/s (could be multiple)
Role includes:
- Identifying and planning required trail work required
- Planning all aspects of a trail day (publicity, catering, tools, other equipment/materials, setup etc)
- Leading the trail day which includes assigning work, managing and training volunteers and ensuring that all work is of the required standard
Skills required:
- A good knowledge of recognised trail building practices that could include formal training, such as that provided by IMBA
- Experience building and maintaining a variety of trail types and styles and of the challenges relevant to Majura Pines
- Excellent planning and leadership skills
Trail Day Leaders (multiple)
Role includes:
- Assisting Trail Day Organiser running trail day including planning, set up and pack up
- Leading a small group of volunteers, who most likely have no trail building experience, to complete a building or maintenance task safely and to an expected standard
Skills required:
- A good knowledge of recognised trail building practices that could include formal training, such as that provided by IMBA
- Ability to independently lead a group of approximately 6, potentially unskilled, volunteers
Dirt Jumps Coordinator
Role includes:
- Point of Contact for the building and maintenance of the Majura Pines dirt jumps (Majurassic Park)

Sponsorship Coordinator
Role includes:

Refreshments Officer
Role includes:
- Maintaining an appropriate stock of refreshments for upcoming trail days
- Providing the Trail Day Organiser with refreshments for each trail day
Skills required:
- A large, spare fridge is useful!
Webmaster
Role includes:
- Managing our WordPress website including uploading new content
- Ensuring that our website technology is secure and up to date
- Make other improvements as required
Skills required:
- Some experience using WordPress, or other similar CMS, is essential
Maps and Signage Officer
Role includes:
- Keeping our printable PDF maps and TrailForks up to date
- Maintaining the trail and other physical signage
- Periodically work with PCS to upgrade the trail head maps
Skills required:
- A background in cartography and/or graphic design would be very useful but not essential
Graphics and Design Officer
Role includes:
- Creating layouts for posters (both online and physical) for trail days, promotions and other general information
- Creating or compiling designs for potential merchandise opportunities
Skills required:
- A background in graphic design or similar (or just be really good with Canva)
- A passion for the “cool” stuff that mountain bikers like
Merchandise Officer
Role includes:
- Managing our well established merchandise partnership for T shirts and Hoodies
- Potentially sourcing and distributing any new merchandise opportunities we may have outside of this partnership
Skills required:
- Good computer skills
- Be well organised
Social Media Officer
Role includes:
- Creating appropriate content for our social media channels
- Posting content created by other members of the Steering Committee
- Being the first point of contact for the many people who contact us via our social media pages
Skills required:
- An awareness of the fast moving trends and fashions in social media
Equipment Officer
Role includes:
- Maintaining our existing large stock of hand tools stored at Majura Pines
- Procurement of any new tools required
Skills required:
- Be quite practical
Fist Aid Officer/s
Role includes:
- Attending trail days and providing basic first aid, if required (hopefully not)
Skills required:
- Must hold a valid Senior First Aid qualification
