Technical XC

Majura has always been the home of technical cross country trails; a place to chew your stem, try not to dab and earn your descents. As well as re-constructing the Auto Alley trails , Majura Pines Trail Alliance have also built a number of new, technically challenging XC trails such as Rock Block and Space Elevator.

Auto Alley

The Auto Alley trails, made up of Auto AlleyBlown GasketBlack BettyCar BodyBucket Run and New Years Resolution, are a set of challenging steep XC trails that run through the narrow compartments that lie on the steeper slopes of Mount Majura to the west of the main cross country trails.

The entrance from the north is off of Betty Blue, near to the start of Mr Squiggle. At the southern end the trail starts/ends at the fire road junction just above Lincoln. There are a number of exits on to Monterey Road and links to the XC circuit.

The Auto Alley trails themselves are steep, tight and challenging constantly doubling back on themselves. Unless you are a riding god you probably won’t clean them first time. In fact it might become your New Years Resolution to ride the whole lot without any dabs.

Rock Block

Rock Block is two way trail on winery hill located to the East of Pinot Grinio. As a climb it’s more direct and challenging than Batcave. Descending it’s a little bit old school but takes some real skill to keep your momentum up. Along the whole length of the trail there are a number of challenging features, in either direction.

Space Elevator

Space Elevator provides the stiffest challenges even for the fittest and best bike handlers. If you have conquered Auto Alley and Rock Block then try this trail next. As a descent it is a bit old school. The trail is narrow, rocky and rooty in places and the corners tight. There is an A/B line split about half way down. Take care as it is a two way trail.

The trail is also a useful alternative return back to the top of Touching Cloth and the Rocksanne or as an alternative link to Larry and the Hackett gate using the short cut across Rock Lobster.
