Our very ambitious pump track rebuild has been a huge success. Velosolutions Australia helped us tweak the design to better reflect the bikes that use the track including the addition of two doubles on the back straight. We also addressed some drainage issues. Then it was over to Iconic trails to move the dirt around with an excavator. Thank you to everyone who has bought merch or donated and to our sponsors who allowed us to bring in Iconic.
Then it was over to the biggest legends of them all – the small army of volunteers who gave up their Sunday to rake, shovel, barrow, water and compact the track, lead by Viv and Jaden from VeloSolutions. After removing all roots and stones and rough raking the track, 6 tonnes (not an exaggeration) of blue metal was spread before the water, shape and compact.
As if that wasn’t enough, we undertook the mammoth task of clearing the central area of the track of rotten logs and brambles. This is now a perfect spot for a picnic table if anyone has a contact or a sponsor would like to get involved.
All that was left after that little lot was to eat pizza, drink beer and hit some test laps. The outer loop is open to ride now. 2 of the corners on the inner loop need longer to dry and are closed off.
A HUGE thanks to the Majura community who made today such a success. Again to VeloSolutions for their time, expertise and equipment. And to our regular catering partners Maitland Street Roasters, Three Mills Bakery and Capital Brewing Co.
