Swayze Gully Dig Wrap Up

It was a small, but hard working, crew that tackled Swayze Gully this morning. The recent rain meant the dirt was perfect for digging and we definitely knew where drainage was needed.

The lower half of Rode House received a total makeover. This steep and fast section is pure fall line that has turned in to one big rut and was flowing like a river. A more interesting alignment was cut in and drains added wherever we could. There is still plenty of speed (and roots) and it to cap it off the drop off at the bottom, which has rotted away, was rebuilt with some textbook rock work.

After amazing coffee and cakes from Maitland Street Roasters and Three Mills Bakery we headed up Point Brake and cut some fresh new trail in which make this fun trail flow more.

Thanks to everyone who helped out and to Capital Brewing Co. for the post dig beers.

Rode House will be closed for a few days as some of the new work is very boggy. Point Brake is open though. If you haven’t ridden this trail before give it a go. It’s more challenging than the flow trails but is not as scary as the Double Blacks like Touching Cloth.

For everyone who missed out today, we’ll probably organise another dig in a couple of weeks to work on the top of these trails and Dirty Distancing.
