Rock Lobster is OPEN!

Just the right amount of rain over the last few weeks means that we are now able to open the re-vamped Rock Lobster. Take it easy though as there are still a couple of soft spots and a few changes to the trail.

The first, and most obvious, change is the entrance which we have moved to behind the sign post (where most people rode anyway). This opens out the first corner, which is now 3x as high, and allows water to be diverted off the inside.

Other than that most of the changes bring the trail back to its original condition, which had eroded over time. Don’t worry – there are still plenty of roots and the big rock garden, of course, but there are now no rain ruts and the berms and jumps are fresh and perky.

We have a big list of thank yous, but please read on. None of this would happen without these organisations/people.

Thank you to MTB Direct for the grant which allowed us to bring in a contractor. Our volunteers are amazing but there are some things (and some trails) that need the machine touch.

Thank you to Iconic trails for being that contractor, especially Mike Long. They listened to our requirements and did a great job. There was even a little bit of time left for them to buff up the berms of Touching Cloth.

Thank you to the Majura Pines Trail Alliance volunteers who helped raked the trail, which made that grant money go that little bit further, and to Capital Brewing Co. for keeping them refreshed.

Lastly thank you to Craig Martin for coming out yesterday and grabbing some photos of us riding the trail. We don’t get to be in the riding shots at trail days as we’re usually packing away the tools and/or knackered. It was fun being models and trying make our riding look better than it is!
