The Majura Pines Trail Alliance are the volunteer group who build and maintain of the mountain bike trails in the Majura Pines, Canberra.
The Majura Pines are some the oldest and most famous mountain bike trails in Canberra. However these trails were closed for 2 years between 2012 and 2014 whilst the Majura Parkway was constructed and extensive thinning of the pines was undertaken. Due to these works many of the old trails were destroyed or very well hidden.
The Majura Pines Trail Alliance have contributed over 1000 hours of volunteer work to build new and recover old trails as well as adding a high quality dirt jump park. There are now over 20km of mapped and sign posted trails for all abilities at Majura Pines.
The Majura Pines Trail Alliance continue to construct more new trails, in addition to maintaining those in exitence. Help is always welcomed at build days. To sign up please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thanks to the hard work of our volunteers, the latest trail at Majura Pines is finished, signposted and open to ride! Point Brake is a steep, fast trail that crosses a gully 12 times. It's a little bit old school but also a lot of fun. The easiest way to find it is to take the right fork off of Rock Lobster. Alternatively have a go at climbing another recent addition Wonder Woman, which is a two way trail that links Boy Wonder to the start of Point Brake.
These trails are on the updated map which is free to download from our website. And don't forget if you would like to support Majura Pines Trail Alliance but are not able to make it to trail days, there is a Paypal Donate on the right hand side of this page.
We had a fantastic trail day last Sunday and came very close to finishing Majura Pines newest trail, Point Brake. We will be running a short trail day this Sunday (2nd April) from 12:30 to put the finishing touches to this exciting gully run.
The plan is to work for a couple of hours, then be the first to ride the completed trail before retiring to Wilburs Cafe Bar at Hackett shops to toast our suceess at around 4pm.
Don't forget to bring:
Come and help build our exciting new gully trail at Majura Pines. Imagine riding one long, downhill, singletrack half pipe. Or carving a wave. It's going to be a good un.
Meet at the Hackett top gate entrance (near the top of Boy Wonder / Planet Claire) at 0830 on Sunday 26th March. The nearest place to park is the Mackenzie St car park in Hackett. From there it is a short ride straight up Blue Metal Rd.
Snacks and refreshments will be provided courtesy of Hackett IGA Plus Liquor.
Don't forget to bring:
A huge thank you to Monkey Wrench Cycles for purchasing the timber that has allowed us to construct the 20m long Monkey Bridge around the dam on Bogs and Logs. As well as being a cool feature it will mean this trail stays drier in the winter.
Monkey Wrench Cycles is a bicycle service and repair centre and shop located at the Hackett shops. Please support the local businesses that support our trails.
A total fire ban has been declared for the ACT for Monday 30th January with SEVERE fire danger rating. Whilst Majura Pines is not closed at this stage, other trails and parks around Canberra are.

Not everyone is able to attend our trail building sessions. You can now contribute by donating funds that will be used to buy tools, material (timber for bridges etc) and refreshments for volunteers. Thank you.
