Descent Trails

The southern end of Majura Pines offers some of the biggest and best descents in the network. There are three great downhills, some challenging climbs and some old school two way XC as well.

The steepest of the trails is Rock Lobster that starts at the highest (accessible) point of Majura Pines and descends 92 vertical metres at an average grade of 16% over, through and round a series of berms, rollers and jumps. The biggest jump is saved for last, right next to the fire road where there might even be a crowd to watch you. This trail is regaularly used by CORC for DH races.

Starting from the same point as Rock Lobster, if you take the right fork you will be on Barry. Not quite as steep but still plenty of jumps and lots of fun. When Barry ends Planet Claire takes over to continue the fun all the way down to the grassed area alongside Love Shack on the XC loop. Turn left here to head off on to the XC trails and Winery Hill; right to start the climb back up again where you came from.

On the lower slopes of the hill there are two climbing trails; AJs Leap and Boy Wonder. After the Hackett gate entrance there is only one way up to the top: Larry. The steep bermed climbing turns lift you to the top of the hill; pause for a moment to look back on the view before setting off on another run of Rock Lobster or Barry.
